Rain-Delayed Milwaukee Race Resumes Sunday Before Championship Finale
Rain halted Saturday's Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 at the Milwaukee Mile after 90 of the scheduled 250 laps, forcing INDYCAR to push the race's completion to Sunday morning. The race resumes at 9 a.m. ET on FS1 and FOX One, with Pato O'Ward leading Felix Rosenqvist, Alexander Rossi, Josef Newgarden, Christian Lundgaard and Kyle Kirkwood at the point of suspension.
Teams will not be allowed to add fuel or change tires before the restart, which resumes from Lap 91. If the race cannot finish by 10:25 a.m. ET, INDYCAR will resume it three hours after the second race concludes; the series still aims to run both events their full 250-lap distance. The nightcap, the Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250, remains on schedule for 1 p.m. ET on FOX and FOX One, closing out the only doubleheader weekend on the 2026 calendar and the season's final oval event. bet on squash
The championship stakes loom over both races. Alex Palou entered the weekend with 553 points, a 91-point lead over Kirkwood and 110 over Lundgaard, but was running 13th when the rain fell Saturday. He can clinch his fifth INDYCAR title if he leaves Sunday's second race with at least a 54-point cushion over both rivals. Christian Rasmussen won at Milwaukee in 2025, passing Palou with 16 laps to go for his first career INDYCAR victory - a reminder that the Mile has punished the points leader before.
The Milwaukee Mile, located at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin, opened in 1903 and is recognized as the world's oldest continuously operating motor speedway. Its 1.015-mile oval carries only 9 degrees of banking, meaning drivers cannot run flat through the corners - a layout that behaves more like a road course and favors cars that rotate through the turns without sacrificing straightaway speed. With the championship math tightening and a second 250-lap race still to run Sunday afternoon, both events carry direct weight on the outcome of the title fight.
