76ers, Celtics Head to Game 7 in Boston

The Philadelphia 76ers forced a decisive Game 7 against the No. 2 seed Boston Celtics after winning Games 5 and 6. The 76ers held Boston to 97 points in Game 5 and 93 points in Game 6. The winner advances in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Philadelphia, which barely qualified for the playoffs, has won two games at TD Garden in Boston. The 76ers limited the Celtics to under 100 points in all three of their victories this series. On offense, Tyrese Maxey has shot efficiently, Joel Embiid has bolstered the team since his return, Paul George has contributed effectively, and VJ Edgecombe has performed beyond his rookie status.

Boston shot 29% from three-point range in Game 6 and made 9 of 16 free throws. Jaylen Brown went 2-for-6 from the line, and the Celtics starters scored 46 points combined. Derrick White scored 11 points with three steals in the loss. Since 2022, Boston has played four Game 7s, winning three: 109-81 over the Bucks, 100-96 and 112-88 over the Heat and 76ers, respectively, with a 103-84 loss to Miami at home.

The series has produced mostly lopsided results, with only one game decided by 10 points or fewer. Game 7 takes place at TD Garden.
