LSU's Flau'jae Johnson set for final NCAA tournament games after staying loyal through college career

Flau'jae Johnson, a senior guard wearing No. 4 for the LSU Tigers women's basketball team, will play her final college games in the NCAA Division I women's tournament. LSU received a No. 2 seed in the Sacramento regional and faces No. 15 Jacksonville in the first round.
Johnson, from Savannah, Georgia, committed to LSU in December 2021 as the first McDonald's All-American recruit signed by head coach Kim Mulkey at the program.[1] She has remained with the Southeastern Conference team throughout her career, entering her fifth year on campus in the 2025-26 season without entering the transfer portal.[1]
The 5-foot-10 guard plays home games at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[1] Johnson has deep ties to the campus, including burying her bearded dragon named Four—named after her jersey number—there following its death in 2023.[2]
Johnson recently referenced her other bearded dragon, Champ, ahead of the postseason. She has spoken about bringing it to practices, similar to teammates with dogs, and teammate Izzy Besselman recounted being surprised by it in a basket.
Coach Kim Mulkey, who won three NCAA titles at Baylor (2005, 2012, 2019) and one at LSU (2023), praised Johnson's loyalty on senior night.[3] Mulkey noted Johnson took a chance on the program early in her tenure and will graduate after four years, rare in modern college athletics.[3]
Johnson, also a recording artist signed to Roc Nation since 2023, balances basketball with music and NIL partnerships, including a deal with the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league.[4] She recently defeated Tennessee 80-58 on February 26, 2026, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
"I want to play with All-Americans. I want to play with a tough coach who won championships," Johnson said, explaining her decision to stay at LSU rather than transfer for easier stats.
